The Vision
Explore Aerial Retreat was birthed in 2022 out of the pandemic, as an inkling to revive the retreats that the founder (Sarah) began running in 2016 out of her home on the Big Island of Hawaii. It was a call to action after a very dark & lonely time with a real craving for new knowledge, practice, curiosity & community. With an emphasis on sunny & salty locations to combat the daunting, Pacific Northwest winter blues, Explore Aerial Retreat officially began in the winter of 2023 with it's first location in Dominical, Costa Rica.
Now, with multiple locations on board (& many being scouted as we speak) this boutique & custom-curated retreat embodies Sarah's tenacious, curious & artful approach to the beautiful adventure of her life including diverse travels aerial training pursuits. The quality & dedication to execute not only a strong train-cation opportunity, but also a revitalizing, feel-good retreat full to the brim of new experiences, friendships, self growth & "Aha" moments is what sets Explore Aerial Retreat apart from your typical aerial training retreat!
The Mission
Explore Aerial believes in a holistic approach to all levels of aerial training from recreational students to seasoned professionals. We work closely with passionate collaborators to authentically put our heads together to create a soulful weeklong offering of play, learning & growth! Guided by an intentional itinerary that touches on all the energetic layers of our beings and senses throughout the week, we strive to make your experience foundational to find balance, harmony, activity, creativity & rest!
It is our mission to create a safe space with a community of movers who outwardly encourage their own (and that of one other’s) personal, artistic, and technical growth- in the air, on the mat, and everywhere in between! We aim to keep the inspiration fiery- we renew our curriculum annually with fresh material & profound themes to guide our week together, along with an adventure (or three) to satisfy our inner wild child! We set a warm tone from day one to foster connections, lifelong memories & friendships between our guests from all races, ages, genders, sexual orientations & walks of life. We seek to empower all of our students to hone & own their skills as teachers & equals that have come together from different backgrounds to hold space for even more learning opportunities throughout our week together... & beyond!
As savvy travelers, not tourists, we promise to work in the best-interest of the countries we explore & the communities we interact with. We will always choose the local driver (& we will definitely invite him to see a circus show with us too) the ecotourism option & reduce our impact in any way possible. We will always show the upmost respect as guests in another's home & remain humble in awe of the beauty of each culture we witness. We lead with respect, & the common goal to "be the ripple of change we want to see in the world."
